BS Farming

What a job!

At first glance, trading potatoes and other agricultural products may seem straightforward enough. Isn't it enough to buy and sell commodities? Contrary to their seemingly simple and rustic appearance, potatoes, onions, sweet potatoes and carrots are much more demanding to grow than they might seems.

Qualify and quote batches

The quality of potatoes, onions and carrots relies on the terroirs and soil structures in which they are produced, and the annual climatic conditions support their development. It also depends on the technical mastery of their cultivation, which has become increasingly complex with the rational use of plant protection products. It also depends on the know-how of harvesting machine operators during harvesting, as well as the precautions taken for storage, conservation and sorting. Depending on all these factors, batch of potatoes, onions, carrots or sweet potatoes can have very different market qualities.

Offering producers, packers, wholesalers and food manufacturers prices for batches on which they can agree, and which are in line both with the specific qualities of each batch, and with variations in supply and demand on international markets… it’s really quite a job !

Who are we?

Farmers themselves from one generation to the next, the directors of BS FARMING and MAC POM have been in the potato trade for over 20 years. The teams who select the batches in the various production areas and sign the annual production contracts are also men and women with hands-on experience.
