BS Farming

Production, trading, storage

Producing, buying from other producers, storing and preserving enable BS FARMING and MAC POM to have in-depth knowledge of the characteristics of each variety and how they evolve during the campaign.

For example, if over the harvest trands emerge interms of ability of varieties to adapte to the vagaries of the weather, no two years are alike, and it is essential to be out in the fields, talking to other growers and monitoring stocks. It is this global vision that enables us to offer packers, wholesalers and food manufacturers the batches that best meet their needs.

Traders and producers

The directors of BS Farming and Mac Pom, who also own farms and farm land, have been involved in potato production and trading for over 20 years. They keep a close eye on their crops and have extensive experience of the many variables that make good seed into good crops, and good crops into good batches.

This know-how is shared by the teams who visit producers and sample batches throughout the season. The batches are then graded from “unwashable”, “6.5” for the least beautiful batches to “8” for the exceptional batches. Depending on their quality, they will be graded and after discussions with their producers about their rating, the lots will be offered for sale.

3 storage sites

BS Farming and Mac Pom also rely on 3 storage sites totalling 18,000m2 of ventilated cold rooms with reheating rooms to prepare shipments in the best possible conditions. Thanks to these investments, BS Farming and Mac Pom have their own means of preserving and preparing batches of potatoes and other agricultural products before they are loaded.

Big bag, palox, bulk, bag or cardboard

BS Farming and Mac Pom’s job is also to meet customers’ packaging requirements. Depending on loading requirements, in lorries or containers, orders will therefore be prepared in Bulk, Big Bag, Palox in bags or nets of 25 kg to 1.5 kg for potatoes, 25 kg to 5 kg for onions, in 600 kg cardboard boxes or 12 kg or 6 kg cartons for sweet potatoes.
